Hi! It’s Donna with 2 new exciting blog post. On April 16, 2009[4/16/09] Sheepshank Sam, the nephew of Paul Bunyan, came and told us all about lumbering. Also, he told us about old folk tales lumberjacks used to tell[including Paul Bunyan].

The next day, April 17, 2009[4/17/09], we went to the Spring Lake High School Aquatics Center. I went on the water slide for the first time[I went on it 5 times]. If your looking for a fun family vacation, I personally recommend the Spring Lake Aquatics Center!

We have been exploring websites for kids. There are many websites out on the internet that kids learn, explore, connect with other kids, and play!

My choice is a website that has some fun games, videos, stories, activities, and has been awarded the the parents choice award for ‘08.
I like it because it has some cool facts and teaches about animals.

Click on the link below to see the website!

I have a book that I can read independently. I want to share some info. with you about it.
The title of my book is Grandfathers Dance by Patricia MacLachlan. This story is about when a family changes when a boy marries the eldest,Anna, the second youngest,Cassie,”marries”a dog, and Grandfather dies.
It takes place in the mid 1800’s. One of my favorite characters is Cassie because she is funny and keeps her family happy. I would recommend this book because you can feel the emotions.

Hello, I’m Donna. Here’s what I know about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was born January 15, 1929. He addressed the nation with the ”I have a dream” speech on August 28,1963. He was assasinated April 14, 1968. He lived 41 years.” I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the truth of it’s creed-we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal ,”these are the first words of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.’s I have a dream speech. This is my version
of it.

This is a asembly about how rock-and-roll was created from Folk music. It was called Skippy and Dave. Skippy is a funny literal and nonliteral “dummy”. Dave is the person who controlled Skippy and the other dummies. One other thing about Skippy is when Dave discussed with him that he was a dummy, he tricked Dave into saying “yes, I`m the dummy.”

Sincerely,
Donna S.

We are learning about Michigan History in 4th grade. Right now,we are learning about lumbering. We started at Native Americans, then, Ettiene Brule, French, Pere Marquette, the English(Pilgrims), the French and Indian war, Sojourner Truth, Civil War, Whitehalls, mining, and lumbering. I find it very fascinating. That is because I love history! We are going to stop learning about Michigan history when we get to Michigan’s birthday. I think we are going to learn about American history after that.

Sincerely,
Donna S.
